Downtown Macon’s art galleries open their doors for later hours, special exhibits, artist talks, refreshments, live music, and other happenings on the first Friday of every month. Art lovers can hop in and out between galleries during the First Friday Art Crawl. Here’s some of what you can expect for June:
Macon Arts Alliance (486 1st Street), 4-7 pm
The Macon Arts Alliance is excited to present our exhibit, “Macon’s Watercolors: A Local Perspective”. This captivating show highlights the work of local artists Mark Ballard, Warren Griffin, and Tom Hays. From portraits and landscapes to still lifes, experience the diverse and unique watercolor styles of these talented creators.
The 567 Center for Renewal (456 1st St), 5-8 pm
Join us for the opening reception of "Fabric of Time," an exhibit of paintings by Caleb Brown, mixed media work by Char Lockett, and photography by Jaey Fawkes. See the new exhibit, meet the artists, and enjoy light refreshments.
Green Light Gallery (452 1st St), 5-8 pm
Enjoy the opening reception for "Rhapsody in Blue," an exhibit of cyanotypes by Meredith Ochoa.
Sheridan Studios (586 Poplar St), 5-8 pm
Sheridan welcomes all for new works on display by Dorrin Gingerich, Quinn McGuiness, Noreen White and other artists, live music by Matt McMillan, plus light apps and adult beverages.
Wesleyan College Leadership Lab (522 Cherry St), 5-8 pm
Drop by for the opening of “The Past Is a Memory, the Future Is a Dream”, a solo exhibition by Steven L Anderson. Artist talk at 6pm
McEachern Art Center (332 2nd St), 6-8 pm
The McEachern will celebrate the opening reception of their summer group exhibition titled “ENTITIES” featuring four Georgia based artists: Jackson Griffith, Sierra Bush, Anna Noel, and Chris Friday.
Gallery West (447 3rd St), 5-9 pm
Gallery West presents the Folk Blues Art Show along with the celebration of Robert Lee Coleman's 80th birthday! Enjoy incredible art, refreshments, and live music featuring musicians that played with Robert Lee Coleman.
