Our board and staff completed the strategic planning process earlier in the year. As part of looking ahead to where we want our organization and our community to be in 2030, we wrote a new mission statement.

Our last mission statement was written 10 years ago when we were in a larger building on Cherry Street. So much has changed since then! Our new statement better reflects where we are now as an organization and how we want to create change in our community in the coming years.

Mission statement:

The 567 Center for Renewal helps artists, creatives, and the community discover, develop, and celebrate their creativity, offering inclusive experiences, creative education, and cultural events that fuel Downtown Macon’s rise as a creative hub where artistic talent and regional pride flourish.

Here are some of our thoughts behind why we chose this for our mission statement.

Helping artists, creatives, and the community

We believe artists and creatives can make a difference in our community. We are continually seeking ways to build up our community through our art programs, as well as help artists and creatives grow and thrive here in Macon.

Discover, develop, and celebrate their creativity

We provide community members various access points to being creative, whether that’s trying to make pottery for the first time to see what it’s like, taking a painting class to learn new skills or being inspired through an exhibit or festival. Everyone has a creative spark, and we want to nurture that.

Offering inclusive experiences, creative education, and cultural events

Our programs are diverse, like the audience we serve. They include paint and sip nights, beginner-friendly classes and workshops, intermediate-level classes, exhibits, artist talks, demonstrations, a festival, art scavenger hunts and more.

Fueling Downtown Macon’s rise as a creative hub where artistic talent and regional pride flourish

We were founded to “renew” downtown Macon when it was mostly vacant buildings over a decade ago. Now, downtown Macon is vibrant, but we continue to invest in downtown as the heart of Macon and Middle Georgia. We want Macon to be known as an art destination, and a place where creatives can make a living and a life.
